The two exceptions are Addicted to My Stepdad and Wrong But Right, which listed no subtitle tracks at all when we checked. That is not a setting you can fix in the player: the tracks are simply absent from those two series.
Japanese subtitles: all 36 series
Japanese is the only language outside the standard six, and it appears on exactly 30 of the 132 series. Every one of these was verified on October 9, 2026:

How to turn subtitles on
Because the tracks are embedded per episode, they appear in the CandyShorts player's subtitle selector, and the same tracks ride on free and locked episodes alike. The zero-cost way to confirm your language: open episode 1 of any series, since episodes 1 and 2 of all 132 series are free, and pick your language in the player. If a language is not listed on a given series, that series lacks the track; your settings are fine.
Do subtitles cost extra?
No. Subtitles are not a paid add-on on candyshorts.com or on the candy.ai shorts surface at candy.ai/candy-shorts. Is Candy Shorts dubbed?
We found no dubbed audio tracks anywhere in the episode data. Localization on candy ai shorts is subtitles only as far as we could verify, so if you want to watch in French, Spanish, or Japanese, you will be reading, not listening.
